私はTVシリーズから通してずっと、人間的に成長するキャラクターというものを、5人のサムライトルーパーに課題として考えてきました。それが納得いくものに出来たかどうか⋯、ということが、大変不安でした。はたして、5人を描ききれたのだろうか?5人の個性を作りあげられたのだろうか?ただ、がむしゃらに自分に出来る勢いっぱいのことはやりとげられたと思っています。今、さまざまな世界で、5人は新たな活躍をしています。彼らの行動、彼らの考えが、さわやかで、少年らしいことに私なりに楽しんでおります。このように状況をみますと、理解深い皆さんの助けあって、私はサムライトルーパーの中で、良い仕事をしたのかなあと思い、少しは安心させてもらっています。もっともっと彼ら5人が活躍してくれれば、もっと安心できることでしょう。これからの5人の活躍に期待し、応援できればと思っております。

All through the TV series, I have been thinking of a character who grows as a human being, as a challenge to the five Samurai Troopers. I was very anxious about whether I could make it satisfactory or not.... Could I have drawn them all, could I have made up their individuality? But I think I have done all I could do. Now, the five of us are active in new ways in a variety of fields. I am enjoying in my own way how their actions and thoughts are refreshing and boyish. Looking at the situation in this way, I am a little relieved to think that I have done a good job in Samurai Troopers with the help of everyone who understands me so well. I will be even more relieved if more of the five of them play an active role. I hope and wish to support the five of them in their future endeavors.

「サムライトルーパー」と言う作品は、"アクション物"の皮をかぶった"青春物"です。と、もはや公言してもはばからないほどに、私達は、彼等のキャラクター性を真剣に追求してまいりました。
それは、非現実的な設定世界において、より現実的な人間ドラマを創造したかったからであります。ややもすれば、オリジナル・アニメーションにおいて、殊にその作品がSFであったり、メカニカル・アクションであったりすると、マニアックな方向に走りがちで肝心なドラマを置き去りにしてしまう傾向が、多分にあるように思われます。しかしながら、あくまで私達の目指す"娯楽性"とは、人と人との間に生じる喜怒哀楽をきちんと描き切ることであり、その為のキャラクターに対する突っ込んだ思い込みは、まさに必要欠くべからざる要因であると言えるわけであります。
サムライトルーパー5人は、ファンの皆様方と共に成長し続けるキャラクターです。

「サムライトルーパー」は「ヤマト』でも「ガンダム』でもなく日本のマスコミが逐に理解し得なかった作品だといえる。
理解の範囲内である「ちびまる子ちゃん」には多くのマスメディアが賛辞に近い評価を掲げた。トルーパーは「なんじゃこりゃ?」の視点で取り上げた『地球発19時』のみである。視点が欠けた評論(普通それは"記事"という)はいくつか散見したが全てが"美少年が活躍するアクションアニメに群がる少女ファン"や"声優ブーム"といったくくり方に終止した。
昨今の「イカ天」や少年向け写真誌からデピューする少女タレント、歌手の類はマスコミが意図的に取り上げ盛り上げている。そこには表現の著作者が存在する「トルーパー」は偶然の産物である。アニメ誌が集中府に取り挙げた記憶もなければ名士による論説も読んだこともない。たいしたものだ。
本物のブームだ。ファンは純粋に自分達のテリトリーの中で楽しむことをおぼえてきている。様々な形での思い入れはあろうが30を過ぎてみれば良き思い出だ。
いつしか『サムライトルーパー』のCDも往年のファン諸氏がそうしたように押し入れの中にしまいこまれ「ああこんなのも買ったんだ」というタメ息とともに再び無機物へと帰するのである。
10代の行為はおおむねそんなものだ。思い出となる元素だけで構築されている。良識はアニメやコミックスへの若者の傾頭を喜びはしないが非難される筋合いもなかろう。現実逃避も10代の慣習だ、はしかだ、青い迷いの時期だから青春というのだ。

Samurai Troopers" is neither "Yamato" nor "Gundam," but a work that the Japanese mass media could never understand.
While the mass media gave near complimentary reviews to "Chibi Maruko-chan," which is within the realm of understanding, Troopers is a work that was covered from the perspective of "What the heck is this? The only other piece that featured a trooper was "19:00 from Earth" from the perspective of "What the hell is this? There were a few articles (usually called "articles") that lacked perspective, but all of them were lumped together under the headings of "girls' fans flocking to action anime with pretty boys" or "the voice-over actor boom.
The recent "ikaten" and other girl talents and singers who appear in photo magazines for boys are deliberately picked up and promoted by the mass media. Troopers" are the accidental product of the existence of the author of the expression. I don't recall any anime magazine covering it intensively, nor have I read an editorial by a famous person. It's a big deal.
It's a real boom. Fans have learned to genuinely enjoy the show in their own territory. There may be various forms of attachment, but after 30 years, it's a good memory.
At some point, the "Samurai Troopers" CDs will be put away in a closet, just as fans of the past did, and will return to inanimate objects with a sigh of "Oh, I bought this one, too.

While common sense does not rejoice at the young people's inclination toward anime and comics, it has no right to condemn them for it. Escape from reality is also a teenage custom, measles, a blue period of indecision, hence the term adolescence.

ここに至るまでにまったく別傾向の二のライバル物。担当者が当時池波正太郎先生の時代物にかぶれていたせいもあってチャンバラがメインであった。づれも品のある征士の"礼"と"光"にテーマをしぼった良質のシノプスであった。河原先生には御自身の初オリジナル小説をケイブンシャさんで発表する時期とほぼ重なり大変多忙な時期に貴重な助言とアイデアをそれこそたくさんいただいた。この誌面を借りて深く御礼申しあげます。(河原先生の小説はタイトル『砂の都(仮)』です。11月中には本屋さんに並んでいる予定、皆さん絶対買いましょう)御夫君の井上幸一氏にも大変お世話になりました。
ありがとうございます。上記3本のシノプスはいづれも夏が舞台であった。ふすまのあけしめのS区、セミの鳴き声、たたみの擦過音とかに擬ろうとか話をしていた。6月中旬の頃だ。ここでいったん企画が中断する。担当者がぶっ切れたためだ。
次に脳が自紙に戻った担当者は千葉繁氏に音響監督を依頼する。役者の芝居と個性に重点を置いた作品に、と主眼を移行したためだ。二度目の打ち合せからシノプス作りに入る。三度目から御門順直氏の参加。一週間かかって第1稿を脱稿、手直し。二週間目でシナリオ初稿を脱稿。改稿。三週目でシナリオ第2稿あがる。その後担当者がふたたびぶっ切れキャラクターの配置を全面的に変更する。御門氏と千葉氏思いつきり呆れる。五週目でシナリオ第3稿あげる。池田成氏に監修の意味もあり8月2日TEL。新作0VAと設定、ストーリーがまったくの偶然で良く似ていることが発覚。五週間分の労働がすべて水泡に帰す。御門氏、千葉氏呆れに呆れる。今年の夏は暑かった。汗といっしよに涙が出た。仕事の進行が全てこの調子だった。同時期にタツノコプロさんとテレビ東京さんからお仕事をいただく。「キャッ党忍伝てやんでぇ」のゲストキャラの声の出演だった。当初予定されていた役者さんがアフレコ日が伸びたために出演できなくなり代役であった。ここで人の温情が身にしみた。音響監督の田中さん、堀内賢雄さん、小杉十郎太さん、山寺宏一さん、他のみなさん、本当にありがとうございました。堀内さんや山寺さんは最初で最後のアフレコにビビリまくり小便もらしていた私に「もっとマイクによって」とか「だいじょぶ、だいじょぶ」とか言ってくださいました。精神的にくたばっていた私は御仏に救いあげられた気持ちです。

The main story was a chanbara (sword fighting) story, partly because the person in charge of the story was into Shotaro Ikenami's historical fiction at the time. Both were high-quality synopses that focused on the themes of "courtesy" and "light" of a refined conqueror. Mr. Kawahara gave us a lot of valuable advice and ideas during a very busy period that coincided with the publication of his first original novel in Kaybunsha. I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to him. (Mr. Kawahara's novel is tentatively titled "The City of Sand" and will be available in bookstores by the end of November.

We were talking about imitating the opening of the fusuma, the sound of cicadas, and the scraping sound of tatami mats, etc. It was mid-June. 「水滸伝」で丸二日かかって寝ずにダビングを終えたことも思い出す。真冬が「水滸伝」で真夏の思い出が「光輪伝」だ。なにひとつも妥協しなかった事が救いだ。おつきあいくださってしDを買ってくださった皆様本当にありがとうございました。心から御礼を申しあげます。
こうして出来た『光輪伝』です。千葉さん御門さんありがとうございました。じっくり聞いてください。
話変りますが、「トルーパードラマ編」は『光輪伝』で終了します『烈火伝』『金剛伝』は作りませんが企画の正統性を継承した新たな『鎧伝サムライトルーパー』は前向きに必ず検討していきます。現場に池田監督や小林プロデューサーにも参入してもらいます。
『〇〇伝』に心残りはあるかと思いますが制作側ではそれぞれに異った音響演出を試みた分『光輪伝』での打ち止めがベストだと判断しました。それに『烈火伝』は『鎧伝』ですもんね。企画の正当性の模索に半年がかりで導き出した結論です。すみません。Another meeting with Mr. Ikeda was held in mid-August. We will not make "Rekka Den" or "Kongo Den," but we will definitely consider making a new "Samurai Troopers" that inherits the legitimacy of the project. We will definitely consider a new "Armor Biographies of Samurai Troopers," which will carry on the legitimacy of the project.
I know there are some regrets about "00 Den," but we have decided that it is best to stop with "Korin Den" since we have tried different sound effects for each of them. Besides, "Rekka Den" is "Armored Den," isn't it? This is the conclusion I reached after six months of searching for the legitimacy of the project. I am sorry.

私が「鎧伝サムライトルーパー」において担当したのが出版、広報全般の仕事でした。番組の終了後に延長、続編の要望書が日に机の上にのらないほどきましたね。もう今年で足かけ3年になり、ファンのみなさまのおかげで自社で記録全集「サムライトルーパー・メモリアルズ」を刊行し、ファンのみなさまからオリジナルビデオシリーズでもとの声が上り、平成3年1月に刊行予定となりました。私は、出版物を通して(アンケート調査、ファンレターを含む)感じたことは、キングレコードの「天空伝」「水滸伝」のCDシリーズの人気の高さでした。サムライトルーパーの世界を拡げた音響の魅力をまざまざと見せつけられたそんな気持ちです。キングレコードの大月ディレクターの熱意は、番組当初から感じておりましたが、このシリーズで爆発しましたね。これからもこのシリーズを続けて新たなサムライ世界を拡げていってくださいと大月ディレクターにはシュプレフィコールをおくりたいと思います。
I was in charge of all publishing and public relations for "Yoroiden Samurai Troopers. After the show ended, I received more requests for extensions and sequels than I could keep on my desk. Thanks to our fans, we published our own collection of Samurai Troopers Memorials three years ago, and fans have been asking for an original video series, which will be published in January 1991. Through the publications (including questionnaires and fan letters), I was impressed by the popularity of King Record's "Tenku Den" and "Suiko Den" CD series, and felt that the appeal of the sound that expanded the world of the Samurai Troopers was clearly demonstrated. I have felt the enthusiasm of Director Otsuki of King Records since the beginning of the program, and it exploded with this series. I would like to give a shout-out to Director Otsuki and ask him to continue this series and expand the world of the samurai.

でも、数あるトルーパーメディアの中に、一つくらいそんな石頭のものがあっても良いと思うんですが⋯ダメ?水滸伝の後、「諏訪湖って、実は汚いんです。でも綺麗に書いてくれて嬉しかった」っていう地元の方からお手紙貰いました。
ああ、良い仕事出来て良かったな⋯⋯って凄く幸せ感じたんですよ。ありがとう。
