Just wanted to share this.
It does get a little bit long, so if you're easily bored by long posts (or me rambling on about translated stuff), here's the short version.
Extremely short version :
Got curious, took screenshots from early in season 2 where Kenbukyou / Lord Saberstryke shows up and, ya know, Ryou's issue with his own swords.
Screenshots from Nasutei's / Mia's computer show Van Halen, Guns N' Roses, and the 'explaination' for Ryou's swords is .... eh... complicated x gibberish.
Long version :
You remember early in Season 2, when Kenbukyou / Lord Saberstryke / Lord Saber Stryke showed up? And Ryou was having problems with his swords?
Well, when the boys were all in her computer room, and she was on her computer looking through information... I found something... interesting.
To share this with all of you, I took some screenshots.
First of all, look REAL close. Van Halen? Guns N' Roses??! I get the feeling that SOMEONE on the staff back then liked that kind of music. lol
Second, there's this chunk of text that scrolled up the screen.
Now, it's not news that there are some bits and pieces in the show that's nothing more than gibberish. Meant to look like something, until you actually stop to look at it. Then you read it and you know it's nothing but to be there for looks.
The thing is, well, you know how we (Japanese illiterate) fans can be. We still gotta know what those kanji say! Human curiousity is never ending.
Here's what was translated from the long block of text.
A big thanks to ManfredLM for helping with this.
First up, the raw text (and, yeah, I did swap out the Kanji I actually knew were names since online translators tend to not like translating them properly)
However, something to keep in mind here is that this isn't just Japanese. It's Japanese and Chinese ALONG WITH there being nonsense gibberish. And NO PUNCTUATION ANYWHERE to be seen!

Please keep in mind that this is a somewhat loose translation. To give you a kanji by kanji translation would be a mess to look at. (Like you looking at 'door building rock foot elephant lava' and trying to make sense of it. It just... doesn't make sense.)
From ManfredLM
First line is about the sword's length, afterwards that’s the weight but that’s a Japanese unit so I don’t know how much exactly that would be.
Then it’s about a strange flame, then some either gibberish or Japanese that I can’t make sense of.
Then about Origin unknown, owner unknown, cause of creation unknown… next line I can’t make sense of again, something like myth says it’s inherited from blablablagibberish. Invincible sword, then 百鬼夜行 is a very Japanese myth/folklore concept about all ghosts/monsters roaming the street at certain nights but it has no logic being in this sentence so I’ll say gibberish.
Then some gibberish, destroying evil and killing ghosts, blablagibberish, incredibly hard, some gibberish, penetrating the skies and smashing the earth, cutting up cloud and air, destroying evil and good gods/deities alike, (destroying) the living, the dead, the saint, the fool alike without judging the good or evil (wow actually a long phrase that makes sense).
Cannot be used by the weak, only the strong. Next line makes little sense because I’m not sure where the punctuation goes, I’m guessing something like the user brings kindness (Ryo’s virtue) but really this line doesn’t make sense so I’m not sure. Then about catastrophe of flames hint turmoils in the world, and calls upon someone to seal something about some war, blabla ominous sword, it’s guardian beast is the black tiger (I forgot how the English dub translated his name), then some repeated gibberish
I don’t really think it’s Buddhism text, maybe a few phrases taken there but I’m not sure, however some phrases look incredibly plain, like, modern.
There are some phrases mixed in there that look like could have being referenced from some old text.
But it’s mixed with plain stuff and confusing words…… I don’t think this is completely serious writing, just something to look cool at first glance.
From me (trying to make a smoother and kinda makes sense? version)
Rekka Swords
6 feet 8 inches long and 11 inches wide
I can see the strange demon watching. The force ('strength' might sound better?) of fear.
Next line is basically, 'we don't know where this sword is from and we don't know why that is.
According to the ancient world, at night hundreds of ghosts walk around. (this is where ManfredLM's mentioning of the story folklore comes in at. If you're curious as to what that's about, I included an explaination at the end of this post.)
The first time I saw the world, I was able to kill the evil ghosts.
The leader is a strong force of unparalleled strength.
The rock is strong.
(something about the sky being clear and ... moving through it? breaking apart clouds?? "clear into the matter of the rock through the sky in the sky break.")
The earth is broken in the earth. Cloud slash. Flame slash. Evil gods, good gods, the living and the dead.
The holy and the foolish don't ask for the right and the wrong to become the weak and to be used.
The strongest is the one who can be used but not the one who can be used.
It'll be time to take action when the world is no longer benevolent. When things are a disaster. The rise of evil implies that we should seal away the chaotic world.
Fighting spirit, sword guardian beast, Kokuen-ou (Blackblaze).
The tiger is not in the back of the shining emperor of benevolence. The test of loyalty.
So, what did you think about this?
Also, for anyone wondering about the 'ghosts wandering around at night' folklore / myth that ManfredLM mentioned, here you go, from Google.
Hyakki Yagyou or Hyakki Yakou (百鬼夜行, "Night Parade of One Hundred Demons").
from - " rel="nofollow" target="_blank">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyakki_Yagy%C5%
This is an idiom in Japanese folklore. Sometimes it's stated as an orderly procession, other times as a riot. It refers to a parade of thousands of supernatural creatures known as oni (ogre) and yokai (supernatural entities and spirits) march through the streets of Japan at night. Seen as a terrifying eruption of the supernatural world into our own.
One legend of states that "every year the yokai Nurarihyon (the most powerful and elite of all the yokai in the world), will lead all of the yokai through the streets of Japan during summer nights." Anyone who comes across the procession would perish or be spirited away by the yokai, unless they were protected by exorcism scrolls handwritten by Onmyoji spell-casters.
(Onmyoji are non-bureaucrats who performed divination, magic, and religious services independently among the civilian population in various locations. These days, they are a type of Shinto-priest who recite prayers and perform divination in the private sector.)
It's said that only the leader of a clan of onmyoji is strong enough to pass through the leader Nurarihyon's procession unharmed.
According to another account in the Shuugaishou (拾芥抄), a medieval Japanese encyclopedia, the only way to be kept safe from the night parade if it were to come by your house is to stay inside on the specific nights associated with the Chinese zodiac or to chant the magic spell: "KA-TA-SHI-HA-YA, E-KA-SE-NI-KU-RI-NI, TA-ME-RU-SA-KE, TE-E-HI, A-SHI-E-HI, WA-RE-SHI-KO-NI-KE-RI".
