Story Summary and extra information :
Suiko Den takes place after the events of Tenku Den, because Touma was with his mother during the time of Suiko Den.
This is a story about how Shin comes to terms with being a warrior.
Shin, Seiji and Ryou are on a camping trip around the Five Lakes region of Mt. Fuji.
Their trip is interrupted by the appearance of the Youja named Touryuuki, the Mashou of Ice.
(And just in case you're curious about it, his name in original Japanese is
凍龍鬼 (とうりゅうき / Touryuuki)
Individually they are translated as
凍 Frozen
龍 Dragon
鬼 Oni (oni / ogre / Demon spirit of a deceased person)
I hope that helps!)
Voice Actor : Show Hayami
He was born and raised in the Lake Suwa region of, Shinshu, Japan.
He is a very rare kind of Youja because, although his power belongs to the Youja, his mind has not been corrupted by the Youja power. The ice armor he wears reflects all attacks. His power lures all living things into a world of ice. His special move is the
氷壁豪冷覇
Ko Rei Ha (according to Theria.net's original romaji of this attack back in the 2002 summary)
Ice Wall Strong Cold Supremacy / Victory
(I guess and easier way to read it would be something like 'Strong Cold Ice Wall Victory'? Or maybe 'Supremely Strong Ice Cold Wall'?)
Ryou and Seiji both attack Touryuuki. They both fail and are trapped within ice. Shin doesn't know how he can fight Touryuuki when both Seiji and Ryou have failed but, eventually, he finds the strength to defeat Touryuuki.

Dry wind there flying over saddle
Repainting the light as it goes
Brief smile yet change not
Only memories talk that one...
Lost silence Time becomes a mirror
Describing unspeakable sadness
Once agian baby blue that time see
Seems like swimming straight to a dream
Baby blue waves breaking
Strong and fragile living pride notice
Broken shower scattering the summer
Beckoning one south
You're the same as an incomplete me
Tomorrow hasn't decided anything...
Only now riding the sail of time
Like blowing the heart
Eyes of baby blue destroyed
Who or what wants to believe in dreams
Baby blue on burning sand
Entrusted midsummer's drama will forever never end
Once again baby blue that time see
Seems like swimming straight to a dream

Still dim light makes the night appear timid
Drops of a damp sky changes the rainbow color
Distant sea roar, summer has come again
Shining on our time
Daybreak Wind's junction
Going over the route, won't shake
Daybreak As pure
Heart permeate
Daybreak Wind's junction
Impatiently waving a hand
Daybreak As pure
If leaning curve, brave halation!
With the flying moment, lining up along the coastline
Time stops as I hit the accelerator
Engraved blue, summer has come again
Tell the waves throbbing
Daybreak Wind's junction
Blowing off worries
Daybreak As pure
Something changes
Daybreak Wind's junction
Coming close to a crying town
Daybreak As pure
I want to start over echoing emotion!
Distant sea roar, summer has come again
Shining on our time
Daybreak Wind's junction
Going over the route, won't shake
Daybreak As pure
Heart permeate
Daybreak Wind's junction
Impatiently waving a hand
Daybreak As pure
If leaning curve, brave halation!

Aimed at the sky, many lines of searchlights
You look up to emptiness
Outside of the window, cluster of vague emotions
Town line-up of made photogravures
I don't care to be ordinary
It's great without it
Overtaking the dream
Abandon
Rhapsody of tears, I want to hear it
Trembling eyes, I want to hold
Until the end of the heart, it's okay to cry to sleep
Because I'll be in the final dream
Why do the stars not stop shining
Won't abandon the dark earth
For example, the dream drives you to death
Won't pick until true love
Things that aren't ordinary
Only too many
Lost in that trip
Only wounded
Rhapsody of tears, gently return
Something is thought, something is said
Then when we awaken, maybe we're reborn
Next to the earliest dream
Rhapsody of tears, I want to hear it
Trembling eyes, I want to hold
Until the end of the heart, it's okay to cry to sleep
Because I'll be in the final dream

Trust my body to float in twilight
While walking that day's vision
Within the sunset's glow, I hurry home
Again seeing off the group of suits
What miles to that place to board the dancing wind
You don't know where you are, breathing the serenade
Secretly inviting you to the gentle night
Reserved gentlemen on the other side of the lane
Growing old on the path of drinking up gin
The moon shines on a row of poplars
The long shadow image reflects the past
Holding the container while swaying in a dream
The struggling journey's end lala serenade
If it's a sweet lonely night, that's also good
What miles to that place to board the dancing wind
You don't know where you are, breathing the serenade
Holding the container while swaying in a dream
The struggling journey's end lala serenade

Millions of years ago, Japan was an island nation that was connected to the five continents.
(Note from the translator : This is referring to Pangaea / Pangea. It was was a supercontinent that existed approximately 335 million years ago, and it began to break apart about 175 million years ago.)
However, the eruption of Mt. Fuji closed a waterway. A group of Plesiosaurus, a kind of ancient creature, was left behind in the Japanese archipelago.
Hundreds of thousands of years later, one thing can be said with certainty. The survival of these ancient creatures is the source for most of the legends of monsters and belief in ancient gods that still remain in Japan today.
This audio drama is set in a very mysterious and sacred site. This place is known as the Five Lakes area of Mt. Fuji. This depicts the exchange of souls between the thoughts of ancient dinosaurs, which can be called 'the history of the earth before human history', and Shin Mouri with his Samurai Troopers.
< Story >
One night, one of the villages located around the Five Fuji Lakes disappeared due to the mystery of the land sinking underground because some unknown, unseen movement in the earth. Shin and his friends are camping in the area to investigate this enigma. In the still and silence of night, the boys are attacked in their sleep by Youja soldiers.
One night, Shin hears someone calling out to him. It's warning him of a disaster. Due to the destruction of the natural underground layer of the Five Fuji Lakes.
Shin and his friends discover the reason behind this unusual destruction. It's due to the abnormal rise in the groundwater of the Goko water supply. However, that's not all. They also detect the existence of a Youja. The mastermind behind this ruse is Arago's palace doctor, Jurokuya.
He was the son of a German Catholic monk who came to Japan in secret. He was ordered by the Pope to go there during the Heian-kyo period (794 - 1185). This young man was forced to convert to Christianity and marry a Japanese woman for the original purpose of proselytizing (the action of attempting to convert someone from one religion to another). After his father's death, he used his father's inherited medical skills and religious magic to become a doctor for the Shogun's family. Unfortunately, his mixed-race background caused him to carry a grudge. He was eventually killed under the stigma of being a traitor and died at the age of 21.
After his death, his skills were so impressive that he ended up being resurrected by the Youja Emperor known as Arago. Although Jurokuya was never seen on the front lines of battle, he had made a name for himself as a shadowy figure in the Youja World.
In order to heal Arago's wounds from his massive battle with the Troopers, the water from the Five Fuji Lakes was required. This water was, and still is, a treasure trove of sacred water. It was distilled and used for Arago's medical treatment. As a result, the underground aqueduct leading to the ocean, which had been closed for tens of thousands of years, was opened once more. This sent a large amount of lake water flowing out into the ocean and causing the original tunnel to collapse. This, in turn, triggered the huge land disappearance mentioned above.
Shin and the other Troopers are confronted by Jurokuyo under the guidance of a mysterious voice. The teens are defeated due to the overwhelming power of the European's demonic power. This could be called the magic of Jurokuya. As if to stop the Troopers from pursuing him any further, a mysterious ball of light appears. Jurokuyo is lured by the ball of light into the lake and leaves.
Shin hears the mysterious voice again that night. After putting on his armor, he dives to the bottom of the lake where he finds a super current is swirling. An undersea cave with a wide entrance awaits the Trooper of Suiko. The teen rushes into the cave with no regard for his own mortality, but, to his surprise, finds that the momentum of the current has weakened after several hundred meters of diving.

By this time Jurokuyo, who had become one with the mysterious ball of light, was emitting a strong demonic power from his entire body. This, in effect, was minimizing the outflow of the lake water. Under his labored breath, Jurokuya spoke.
"Boy. This willful ball of light is one that went from the continent and out to the sea. Its bones are buried in this land. There are times when I, too, dream of the endless continent and my father's homeland. Even though I have become a Youja spirit, I still have a human heart. You, however, are the incarnation of water. Use your skills to blow up this cave with me in it. You are the incarnation of water, you should be able to do it."
Shin was puzzled and wasn't sure what to do. Although he was certain that he could do it. After his attack, the cave closed its channels again. A ball of light emerged from the rubble of the explosion. A voice is heard from the current.
"Boy, for the first time in sixteen nights, you have been able to sleep peacefully. The waters of Lake Fuji and nature have been protected by your hands. I thank you deeply."
It's at this moment when Jurokuyo rrealized that the power of Suiko isn't the power to fight. It's the power to protect. The power to protect life, the land, and the sea.
Shin chases after the glowing ball. The sphere had completed its mission and was about to disappear to the bottom of the lake. Shin discovers the fossil of a giant aquatic dinosaur in the ball's path.
'The dinosaur has been protecting this lake for thousands and thousands of years. . .'
Shin is moved to tears by the innocent soul. The mysterious lake became silent again.

Suikoden Summary by Theria.net (This will be very brief)
Stage 1
Seiji, Ryou, and Shin are on the train to either the mountains for a camping trip or to Ryou's trip. It's to help Ryou recouperate. Seiji spends most of his time reading (and reading aloud) a guidebook to the area.
The next day, Ryou takes the other two to see some springs that Seiji read about in the guidebook. (Ryou calls him a guidebook once, too.) The springs would freeze over on cold nights.
Stage 2
When there, they don't see any people and then realize that everything is frozen over. Suddenly an icy wind starts up and they began to freeze. Calling their subarmors, they find a person contemplating the icy landscape. The stranger introduces himself as Touryuuki. After calling their armor, Ryou tells the other two to leave Touryuuki to him. Ryou uses his armor's sure kill attack / special technique but it doesn't faze Touryuuki. The Trooper of Rekka nearly collapses from exhaustion. (He still hasn't recovered yet.) Then Seiji tells Ryou to step down and let him take care of the Youja. Korin's sword can't cut Touryuuki's ice, so Seiji calls on his armor's sure kill / special technique attack, which only ends up getting reflected since it's light. Instead, Touryuuki attacks. Seiji begins to become iced over.

Seiji tells Shin to use his armor's water attack on Touryuuki but Shin hesistates. When the Trooper of Suiko does try it, his attack turns to ice.
Ryou wants to try again, but Seiji tells him it's useless. Only Shin's attack can work.
Ryou catches on, or perhaps he misundertands Seiji's words. That's when he tells Shin to do the attack again but, this time, combine it with the sure kill attack / special technique of his Rekka armor. They do it, and this time Ryou gets hit by his reflected attack.
Touryuuki uses his own special ice attack on Ryou and traps the Trooper of fire in a prison of ice.
Stage 3
Shin's thinking of what will happen. If this is allowed to continue, then all of Japan will be frozen over. This will include the water and fish, too. Touryuuki asks why doens't Shin escape. The Trooper of Suiko says he won't escape because the others believe in him. Shin then asks the Mashou of Ice why he is freezing everything and the Mashou replies with a simple answer. "To keep it beautiful. Not that you would understand."

Shin retorts that Touryuuki is the one that doesn't understand.
Touryuuki - "You think you can save the world by defeating the Youja. . . but you don't have the power."
Touryuuki - "You think you can save the world by defeating the Youja. . . but you don't have the power."
Shin - "We won't give up as long as the Youja are here. This is a battle for life."
Touryuuki - "That's well said, but how can you defeat ice?"
Shin thinks for a moment. 'Ryou, Seiji, Touma, Shuu. Am I really an armor wearing soldier? I believe in your powers. I want to save everyone so that everyone can live.'
Touryuuki, wondering at Shin's silence, asks "What do you plan to do? Your Cho Ryu Ha (Super Wave Smash) is useless."
Shin - "I'll defeat you even if it costs me my life." He shouts out his attack and, this time, he breaks the ice. Much to Touryuuki's astonishment. "You can do anything you put your mind to. I can't forgive for killing everything. Let's do it." He uses his armor's attack again.
Touryuuki uses his own attack however, this time, Shin's attacks breaks through Touryuki's attack and defenses.
Stage 4
Shin saves Seiji and Ryou. Touryuuki congratulates the Samurai Trooper of Suiko. Shin tells him this is the power of the heart. The Mashou of Ice wonders if the Troopers can really defeat the Youja. Although a Youja, Touryuuki wanted to freeze the springs, creeks, and streams to preserve them. His line of reasoning is because this place was once his home. When the Mashou dies ( ? ), he vanishes into nothingness. All of the ice begins cracking. Everything that had been trapped in or beneath the ice was now being freed.
Stage 5
The three Troopers are returning to their original vacation spot. Shin wonders about if Touryuuki could still be alive somewhere somehow.
